Owner & Trainer, Lynn Doki Camina
2/19/12: Check out this Sunday's HoofBeats section in The Pilot to read about the Moore County Driving Club's Frostbite Series. Lynn was a Judge for the Dressage portion of the day and she was praised for the helpful comments and notes she gave to the competitors; critiques that they could take back to their trainers so that they would know what areas of their driving needed work. Check out the article to find out how the day went (Click the Link above).
1/11/12: Congratulation to Manny Diemer and Kreuggard on their performance at the January 8th Harness Track Competition! Having only been together a short while, they earned a First Place Finish with a 69% and a Fourth Place Finish with a 67%!! Here's to a great start to this season.
12/16/11: Congratulations to Sandy Corr of Moorehorses.com for purchasing Nemo, our Holsteiner x. Good luck to her and Nemo in their new partnership.
12/11: The farm is again abuzz with work as we add two new stalls to the barn and build a three bay shed for hay, shavings and the tractor. We continue to upgrade and update the barn as new doors and Dutch windows are also to be installed soon. Check back often to see what we've got going on!
11/18/11: Lynn Doki Camina has acquired Sven, a 4th level Swedish horse. After working with him through the Winter, she will be competing him in the Spring so keep an eye out for the duo, as they will certainly be quite the competitors!
10/16/11: Lynn Doki and her fiancee Savin Camina were wed in a beautiful and stylish ceremony at Forest Creek Country Club in Pinehurst this Sunday. The ceremony was attended by family and friends
, all of whom raved about the exquisite decorations and incredible food. The bride was described as elegant and stunning, radiant and gorgeous, and her garnet gown was sensational. Lynn and Savin exchanged their poignant, self-written vows in a brief ceremony that was followed by a reception in the Main Banquet Hall which featured amazing food, a live band and beautiful, hand-crafted decorations. The newlyweds then "escaped" in a black, vintage Mercedes 300SEL and spent their honeymoon in an "undisclosed location." As of today, October 23rd, things are back up and running at full steam here at Walhalla Farm!
10/1/11: Lynn judged the Dressage portion of Combined Driving at CHP on Saturday morning. It was a beautiful morning to watch some lovely tests!
9/1/11: Check out our "Horses for Sale" section and have a look at Nemo, a horse with great lineage and temperament. More information can be found in the "Sale" section, and by emailing piafferider@aol.com.More pictures and video are available upon request.
8/12-14/11: We had a great time with our Dressage Weekend! There was great company, good food, and good times. Those who participated had a great time working with Lynn in both one-on-one lessons as well as in small group sessions. Everyone made some degree of progress and the weekend helped to work out a few kinks in everyone's riding. We're already looking forward to hosting the next one, October 8th through the 10th!
7/29/11: The farm is abuzz with work, as we have new fencing and fields put in, and current fields sub-divided! We're using high quality, creosote fencing which discourages cribbing and lasts for decades.
7/11: We're busily preparing for the August arrival of Joy, and her two horses; Krown Royal, a thirteen year-old Swedish Warmblood, and Ramses, a five year-old Oldenburg. Joy is moving to the area and we look forward to a long and productive relationship!
6/10/11: We have a new addition to the farm, Misty, a five year-old mare who is in to advance her schooling. She is in Full Training, and both she and her owner, Christine, have been a delight to work with. Misty is now working second level and advancing nicely, and having a great time doing it.
6/11: We've had the great pleasure of working with Cold Harbour (Bo) and his owner Dana Diemer. He was in to tune up and play with his Dressage while on break from Boyd Martin's. We're very excited for Bo and Dana, and hopeful that he makes the Pan Am Team! He's a terrific and animated mover, and has been a pleasure to both train and ride. Lynn is also looking forward to working with Dana on Driven Dressage. It was a pleasure to work with both of them.
5/11: We are very pleased to welcome Sid, a Warmblood Cross, to Walhalla Farm! He is a 13 year-old, 3rd Level School Master and he is available for training rides for the more advanced student. He is an excellent compliment to Sam I Am, our other teaching horse. He is even tempered and placable, and he will allow a student to feel the correct movements and positions of a 3rd Level horse. He is an excellent confidence builder and a forgiving teacher, and we look forward to allowing students to experience this well practiced horse.
3/11: We're gearing up for show season, waiting for the flowers and trees to bloom, and just all around enjoying the spring before the full heat of summer comes! The fully lighted, covered arena allows for early morning rides, and late evening lessons when the heat of the day has passed. Rain is no damper on the work either. Only when there is thunder and lightning in the area, will we cancel a work session; though that time is often spent in the barn relaxing and chatting, and waiting for the weather to pass.
12/26/10: Check out the Photo Gallery for some beautiful shots of Walhalla Farm in the snow!!
12/10: We are very pleased to now utilize Magnesium Chloride as a permanent dust control measure for the Covered Arena. This means no more watering and no more dust!! It is a completely harmless, non toxic solution to arena dust that is environmentally friendly as it is both safe and saves thousands of gallons of water a year from being used to keep the arena footing wet. It has been tested and evaluated and is used extensively by the U.S. Forestry Service and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to control particulate matter. Due to the hygroscopic properties of Magnesium Chloride, it absorbs and retains moisture from the air and the environment, but will not dry out or otherwise damage the horses' hooves. Since there is no dust being kicked up, both rider and horse can breathe and enjoy the fresh air of the Sandhills, and not dust particles!!
10/30/10: Congratulations to Allison for taking First Place in her class at Combined Training at Heather Ridge this past Saturday! She has put in a lot of hard work and truly deserved her First Place finish. Keep up the good work Allison!
10/10: It has been a busy month with both the addition of new boarders and new clients. We'd like to give a special welcome to our newest boarder Petruccio, a wonderful Hanoverian working 4th level, and his delightful owner Anna Lee!
09/05/10: We had a wonderful time with our guests this weekend. We had the great pleasure of hosting Caroline Atherhold, her husband Ashley and their adorable daughter Lily, as well as Caroline's student Taylor for the weekend. Caroline and family were in town as she competed her mare, Pixie, at Prelim at the Carolina Horse Park. Taylor also competed with her Thoroughbred, Jerry, at CHP. Both Caroline and Taylor did exceptionally well in their divisions and we truly enjoyed their company and cooking-out out with them this Labour Day Weekend! They are both outstanding Eventers and fantastic people. We look forward to seeing them again.
09/10: A new addition to Walhalla Farm: Sam I Am, a Thoroughbred Eventer, has come to board with us and will be available for lessons! He is a patient and forgiving teacher and has a wonderful disposition for beginning riders.
05/10: Congratulations to Mary! Getting a start on the show season with a good showing at Antares Dressage on her Holsteiner Lieges.
02/10: Nemo went home to his owner, Diana, and is now happily working at First level. We look forward to seeing him regularly for "tune-ups" and lessons.
01/10: Congratulations Mary! Mary is now the proud owner of a new 4 year old Holsteiner stallion! Bloodlines of Landgraf, Ladykiller, and LeSanto to name a few. Lynn is excited to start him next month and eager to see what the man can do!
06/09: Weinbrand made his first appearance in the competition arena in two years - and came home with a First Place and 63% at 2nd level, test 4. Onward and upwards for the little boy!
05/09: Mary Phelps had another successful show! Her first recognized show...Dressage at the Park - scores improved every day, ending with a score in the 60's at TL! Way to go Mary!
